The 11th Annual Chico Eagles Chili Cook-off is slated for Saturday, July 11th at the Chico Eagle's Hall.
Teams that enter the competition will start cooking at 6 a.m. that day, at festive booths set up in the parking lot of the hall, which is located at the corner of East 20th and Mulberry Streets.
The event opens to the public at 11 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. You can taste the chili for just $5. There will also be beer and wine for sale. It's a family friendly event with childrens activities planned ... and raffle prizes.
The weather should be perfect as the forecast is calling for a high of 88 degrees.
Money raised from the event supports the Chico Eagles Building Fund. The service club is known for its support of non-profit organizations both locally and nationwide. Each year they raise more than $20,000 for these charities.
Judging begins at noon, with winners announced at 1 p.m. There will be 5 judges, including Action News Now at Noon Anchorwoman Linda Watkins-Bennett.
If you want to join in the competition it's not too late, the fee is just $25 to enter. Call Bill Johnston at (530) 518-0145 to find out more.
