It's been one month since state-mandated water regulations went into effect. Many Chico residents are wondering how the city is doing.
According to the California Water Service, the city is saving up to 40 percent more water.
Cal Water is working directly with customers to conserve. They take appointments in person, by phone and online. Officials have said that their call volume for water wasters has decreased dramatically.
They say the first month served as a learning curve, so no citations were issued. After warning calls and letters, water wasting offenders will face a fine of $50. The second offense is $100.
