UPDATE: The evacuation was lifted and students returned to class around 9:30 a.m. The threatening email was received by a science teacher, who immediately forwarded it to school administrators. School officials would not say what was said in the email, but did say it contained a threat against a classroom. A police investigation determined the threat was not credible.

Chico Country Day School has been evacuated after a middle school teacher received an email threatening the school Tuesday morning.

All of the middle school’s students and staff have been moved from the campus on Broadway to the elementary school campus gymnasium.

The Chico Police Department is on the scene and a perimeter lockdown is in place on the elementary campus. Officials say business is otherwise operating as usual.

School officials have notified parents with a School Messenger text message.

A police investigation is ongoing and this story will be updated with further information as it becomes available.
