Gina Sims is a teacher and also the Garden Coordinator at Chico Country Day School. Today she worked with students and volunteers to create a new garden by using the lasagna gardening method. Elliott Proffitt is a Garden Creator for Cultivating Communities North Valley and says lasagna gardening actually helps the environment. The lasagna method works for gardening as it does with the dish. Sim's says all of the items used in the garden are donated materials from within the community. Some of which include leaves, woodchips, and compost. The garden will be used to teach students where food comes from and the vegetables will eventually be used in the school's cafeteria.
