Chico Council to review Sit-Lie Ordinance

Chico city councilmembers will be presented with plenty of information on the controversial-and now year old Sit Lie Ordinance-at tonight's council meeting.

It's the ordinance's one year review and Chico Police detailed that between December 19th of last year and November 30th of this year, they issued 162 sit lie warnings and 39 sit lie citations.

Meanwhile William Reick and the Downtown Ambassadors shared results of a survey they conducted on Sit Lie.
Of 85 downtown merchants surveyed, 31% say Chico has become more welcoming in the past year, while 41% say it's become less welcoming.

City Manager Mark Orme adds the face of downtown changed when cops hit the streets two months ago.

"Sit Lie is a tool that's going to be in the toolbox," Orme said. "And I hope it's one that we don't have to use, because people know we have it available."
