A Chico teen who was injured in a nearly fatal motorcycle accident had the support of his community online and at La Comida.

Hundreds of people came to donate and show support for Hunter Openshaw. The restaurant had a line out the door filled with people from all over Chico.

Hunter nearly lost his life in a crash last month at Cycleland speedway. The 18 year old experienced brain, facial and spinal injuries. Doctors had to remove part of his skull to reduce the swelling of his brain. After an extensive surgery on his eye socket and spending weeks at U.C. Davis medical center, Hunter is home but will require more surgery. The road to recovery will take some time.

In addition to the proceeds raised at tonight's fundraiser, the community has set up a "Go Fund Me" account to help with Hunter's medical costs. In just 13 days it has raised nearly $3,000.

You can read more about Hunter on his facebook page and donate to his cause on his "Go Fund Me" account.
