The 14th Annual Chico Community Creche Exhibit opens to the public next week for a four day run. Creche is the French word for Nativity Scene. Creches depict the scene of the birth of Jesus with wise men, shepherds, angels, a stable, animals, Joseph and Mary and the baby Jesus. Christians of nations around the globe decorate their homes with a creche at Christmas.
The Chico Community Creche Exhibit is open from December 4th through the 7th. It is hosted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at the church on the corner of East Avenue and Mariposa.
The event is free, and features nearly 1,000 unique creches owned by members of the community.
This year it has been expanded to include a Children's room with hands on activities, and a live nativity on display outside from 6 - 7 p.m. each night. There will also be a professional photographer providing a free family photo.
There will also be dozens of performances by talented local musicians. The hours of the exhibit are 2 - 9 p.m. Thursday December 4th through Saturday December 7th , and 4:30 - 8 p.m. Sunday, December 8th. For more information contact Kim at 892-2926 or visit www.Facebook.com/crechefestival2014.
