Public Works crews were able to reopen the popular City Plaza Fountain. Tonight's concert in the park went off without a hitch. Patrons gathered in the City Plaza to take in the sights, sounds and (of course) the fountian.
Last night at the Thursday night market, crews shut down the fountain because of a foul odor and discoloration.
Somehow urine and fecal matter got into the water system and came to the surface.
Now the big question is how did it get there in the first place? The water is recycled and runs through a filtration system located in locked underground vaults.
Crews spent today draining the contaminated water, disinfecting it and filling it back up. Public Works is still investigating how the debris got into the water system.
