Chico business hosting Red Cross food drive for fire victims

Two wildfires have killed six people, scorched more than 200 square miles and destroyed roughly 1,600 homes in California, and people in the North State are coming together to help anyway they can.

SunPower by Alternative Energy Systems in partnership with The Red Cross, is hosting a food drive to benefit victims of the Valley Fire in Lake County.

Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alternative Energy Systems’ Solar Learning Center at 13620 Highway 99 in Chico.

Suggested donations include, but are not limited to canned soups, cans of tuna, chicken and beans, granola bars, juice boxes, personal hygiene products, pet food, pet beds, pet toys, baby foods, formula and diapers.
