It's a perfect way to celebrate National Bike Month ... the 7th Annual Chico Bicycle Music Festival. It takes place Saturday, June 13th, 2015.
The Free, non-profit event was created by Founder Samantha Zangrilli to promote human-scale transportation and local musical talent.
It kicks off at 11 a.m. with a performance by "Wolf thump" at the 3rd and Wall Street Stage, at the Saturday Farmer's Market in Downtown Chico.
The Festival gets mobile at Noon with a live, on-bike concert through Bidwell Park. Mandalyn May and Thomas spellman will perform as the bicycle caravan tows pedal-powered electric generators to Manzanita Place at the Chico Elks Lodge, to power the line-up of musicians who will perform starting at 2 p.m.
The musicians include MaMuse, Jeff Campbell and Kyle Williams. The event will feature free Bike Valey Service offered by Chico Velo, as well as the "Upcycled Lounge" with bicycle crafts and an "Upcycled Chair Contest" by Butte Environmental Council. There will also be safety booth games and drawings and Conceptual Light Bicycles by Greg Degouvia to ride.
At 5 p.m. Greenline Cycles will host a LiveOnBike Parade out to the Chico Rec Pump Track, where employees and other Greenline fans will show off their tricks and hops ... with a bunny hop competition, bicycle limbo and crazy tricks.
At 6 p.m., more music is planned at Manzanita Place featuring Smokey the groove, BunnyMilk and DJ Hocus Pocus.
Food and drinks, including beer, will be for sale along with a free hydration station by Klean Kanteen, a face painting booth and vendors with jewelry and clothing.
