A Chico 5th grader was among the thousands of media members interviewing NFL superstars at Tuesday's Super Bowl Media Day.
Sammy Allen-Pierce, a 5th grade student at Hooker Oak Elementary School was chosen as one of three kids in the country to represent "Kid Star Radio" at Media Day.
Sammy interviewed more than a dozen NFL players yesterday, including Seattle Seahawks star safety Kam Chancellor. Sammy asked Chancellor what he does before he goes out on the field and Chancellor told Sammy he prays for himself and his team.
One of Sammy's favorite interviews was with MLB and NFL analyst Chris Rose, who told Sammy he knew he wanted to be a sports journalist when he was just six or seven years old.
Following media day, Sammy received a commemorative sweatshirt of his favorite team, the Oakland Raiders, with his last name on the back. Today Sammy is attending the NFL experience, the leagues interactive theme park that includes games, displays and football clinics and is set up outside the Super Bowl venue every year.
Kid Star has been working for 27 years, to help mentor kids with radio reporting. Kid Star board members say this year's event was so incredible and they are looking forward to giving more kids the opportunity to be part of this experience in the future.
