A community meeting regarding the proposed annexation of the Chapmantown and Mulberry neighborhoods in Chico is being held Saturday.
The meeting begins at 10 a.m. at Chapman Elementary School.
After killing a five year phased annexation plan for the neighborhoods in November, the Chico City Council has agreed to reconsider the issue.
Many Chapmantown-Mulberry residents oppose annexation to Chico over worries about higher taxes and added restrictions and some city council members have voiced concerns over whether the city could even support serving the area.
The city, however, has been under pressure by the state for years to annex the area so it could begin hooking up the homes and business in the area to city services.
