VISALIA, Calif. (AP) — A Central California man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his teenage stepson, who was reported missing days before he was found dead.

Visalia police have scheduled a news conference for 11 a.m. Wednesday to discuss the Tuesday arrest of 32-year-old Miguel Angel Villegas Pacheco. Police spokesman Sgt. Osvaldo Dominguez says Pacheco has been booked into Tulare County Jail on suspicion of murdering his 14-year-old stepson, Dameian Gulley.

The Times-Delta of Visalia reports (http://vtd-tar.co/187mEsf) that Pacheco and the boy's mother, Andrea Villegas, approached the newspaper and other media outlets for help after Dameian failed to show up for middle school last week. His body was found days later in Sequoia National Park.

Police have not said how he died or what led them to arrest Pacheco.

Villegas has said her son was autistic.
