Chico State (35-8 overall and 27-7 in the CCAA) swept a doubleheader from Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday at Nettleton Stadium.

In the first game, Jeffrey Ortega hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Wildcats a 3-2 win, a victory that ushered in a myriad of milestones.

Head coach Dave Taylor picked up his 300th career victory as the Cats leader.

The triumph also gave Cats starting pitcher Nick Baker his 30th career win. He becomes just the third Wildcat to accomplish the feat.

Most importantly however, the walk-off win clinched Chico State a berth in the CCAA Championship Tournament, which will be their 18th postseason appearance in the last 19 years.

In the nightcap, Chico State emerged victorious as well, 4-2.
