The CASA Superhero Run is coming to Chico's Bidwell park on Saturday, September 20th and to Redding's Civic Auditorium November 8th.
CASA is a national program dedicated to providing quality court advocacy services to abused and neglected children ... under the jurisdiction of the Dependency Court. More than two million children have been helped by volunteers since the program started in 1977.
In an overburdened child welfare system, CASA says that the unique one-on-one relationship that forms between their volunteers and children they represent is often the most stable, positive relationship the child has. CASA volunteers are a powerful voice for children. They make recommendations to the court that are in the child's best interest and advise the court about what the child needs and wants, while providing emotional support, stability and caring that every child deserves.
The Superhero Runs are a great way to show your support and make a difference, while having fun at the same time.
In Chico, Registration gets underway at 7:30 a.m. at the One Mile Recreation area. The Superhero 10K begins at 8 a.m., followed by the Superhero 1K at 8:30, and the Superhero 5K Run/Walk at 8:55 a.m. There will be a Pancake Breakfast, face painting and a photo booth. Registration for children ten and under includes a cape. There will also be prizes for best superhero costumes.
In Redding on November 8th, Registration starts at 7:00 a.m., with the Little Heros Dash at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K and 10K walks starting at 9 a.m.
