A Red Bluff woman has been arrested by Butte County Sheriff’s Deputies for allegedly stealing from an elderly Chico man and his dying wife for whom she was acting as a caretaker.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rebecca Partsch, 56, at her home in Red Bluff Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, in June of 2015 an 89-year-old man told authorities he was missing $170,000 in coins.

An investigation revealed that just prior to the theft, Partsch was acting as a caretaker to the man’s ailing wife prior to her passing, but had abruptly quit just before the woman died.

On Thursday, deputies served a search warrant at Partsch’s house on St. Mary’s Avenue in Red Bluff. They found 15 gold maple coins and 857 silver coins valued at approximately $31,131.

Partsch was arrested and has been cooked into the Butte County Jail on suspicion of theft from an elder by a caretaker.
