The Chico Area Recreation and Park District's board discussed the options for additional off-leash dog areas at last night’s board meeting, but were unable to come up with any viable options.
Dog owners in Chico have limited off-leash options with just Lower and Upper Bidwell Park during certain times and areas, and DeGarmo Park in north Chico.
CARD’S General Manager Steve Visconti said the board has directed staff to come up with more viable options.
According to Visconti, one previously proposed area off of Henshaw Avenue in west Chico is now “off limits for off-leash”, but he says other options include some property next to Marsh Junior High and an area near Mud Creek in north Chico.
For the time being though, the issue will be put on the shelf until the June 19 CARD board meeting.
