Butte County trucking businesses are likely to see relief from the California Air resources Board.
The original deadline for trucks and buses to comply with new air quality standards was January 1st, 2014.
CARB is now recognizing companies acting in "good faith" to comply, and proposing an expansion of counties that do not have to meet the deadline. One of those proposed counties in Butte.
“I believe it's a step in the right direction,” said Butte County Air Quality Planner Armen Kamian. “We recognize just from conversations with people that it's going to be a hardship on a lot of people and I think the Air Resources Board is starting to see the dynamic of that.”
CARB will officially review these regulation changes in April. They're also holding public meetings, including one in Redding on Thursday.
