A driver was taken to a local hospital after their vehicle catches on fire after a three car accident Monday afternoon in Chico.
The collision was reported just before 6:00 p.m. on the intersection of East Avenue and Pillsbury Road.
Chico Police say the driver of the green Honda Civic was traveling eastbound when they ran a red light and struck two vehicles that were traveling on Pillsbury road.
Witnesses who were eating at Taco Bell say the Honda Civic lost control hitting the tree, shortly after the car was on fire.
"When I ran outside, I saw flames shooting up in the air," a near-by resident, Candi Adams said.
The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and was taken to Enloe Medical Center.
Chico Police Sgt. Scott Ruppel said the driver was alert and suffered minor injuries.
The other drivers involved are expected to be OK.
