SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Investigators are trying to determine what caused a car to catch fire on a highway in San Jose in an incident that left three people dead.
California Highway Patrol Officer Ron Simmons says officers arrived at the scene on Highway 101 just south of Interstate 280 around 2 a.m. Sunday. Crews were already there putting the fire out.
Simmons tells the San Jose Mercury News investigators do not know whether the red Honda crashed or something mechanical sparked the fire. But the three - all occupants of the Honda - were pronounced dead at the scene.
They were not immediately identified.
