Tehama County sheriff’s deputies have arrested one man, but are still searching for another after a car broker was robbed at gun point by a masked man in the Rancho Tehama Reserve.

The robbery happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday at a home on Wagon Wheel Drive in the Rancho Tehama Reserve area of Corning, according to Tehama County Lt. Yvette Borden.

Jacinto Hurtado, 39, a car broker, was in the area trying to buy a BMW when a group of unknown men confronted him. Hurtado tried to flee, but was blocked when a 2012 or 2013 black GMC Denali Avalanche-type vehicle slammed into the side of his rental car.

A masked man then jumped out of the GMC, pointed a pistol at Hurtado and demanded money. Hurtado handed over $6,000 and fled the area on foot.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived they found 20-year-old Francisco Mungia hiding out in the back yard of the Wagon Wheel Drive home, Borden said.

Mungia was taken into custody and booked into the Tehama County Jail on suspicions of robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Investigators are still searching for a man known as “Torro”, who they believe was also involved in the robbery and they are searching for a gray 1997 Nissan Pathfinder Pickup with front end damage, as well as the GMC.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office at 530-529-7920.
