SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Relatives of a young Canadian woman found dead in Golden Gate park say she was on her first solo backpacking trip that would have taken her all the way to Europe.
Audrey Carey's great uncle, Rejean Carey, tells the San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1LgF1l3) the 23-year-old woman from Quebec had told her family she was embarking on a an adventure and decided she would go for the first time to the United States and then make her way to Europe.
A passer-by discovered her body Saturday morning, following the first day of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.
Police say Carey suffered blunt-force trauma to her head and was pronounced dead by officers in Golden Gate Park. Few other details were released about Carey’s death. She was one of two homicide victims in The City this weekend, police said.
