Nearly a week after the fire was first reported, The Lassen National Forest Service has indicated this morning the Campbell Fire has burned approximately 865 acres and is 90 percent contained.
Crews have completed a handline on the south, west, and eastern fronts of the fire as the fire continues to slowly burn down into Deer Creek. A large number of resources were downsized yesterday afternoon with the fire largely under their control. Three hand crews and two helicopters will continue to monitor the fire’s perimeter to keep an eye out for hot spots and conduct mop-up duties. The fire is roughly two miles from Campbellville in the Ishi Wilderness of Tehama County.
As of today, the cost of combating the fire has reached the $2.2 million. Fire crews are still investigating the exact cause of the fire.
