In light of a string of recent law enforcement deaths, citizens across the country and in the North State are adopting a new phrase in support of their officers. “We back the blue.”

A kick-off event was held at Signstations in Redding Wednesday. The campaign mirrors Chico’s “we back the blue” campaign started by Officer Peter Durfee and the Chico Peace Officers Association.

More than 60 people attended, including Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko and Redding Police Chief Robert Paoletti.

The campaign will run through the entire month of November, with 100 percent of the money raised going to local charitable law enforcement causes, including the California Peace Officers Memorial, Operation Blue Santa and the 10-25 Foundation.

Decals, raffle tickets and “we back the blue” apparel are available at Signstations at 2550 Alfreda Way in Redding.
