SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A Taiwanese woman has sued Facebook on the grounds that she was discriminated against because of her race, harassed, and retaliated against during her brief employment.
The Los Angeles Times reports Thursday that Chia Hong filed the suit against the social media company on Monday in a San Francisco Bay Area superior court.
Hong worked at Facebook as a product manager and then as a technology specialist in finance for about three years before she was terminated in October 2013.
The lawsuit accuses company officials of ignoring or belittling Hong's opinions and input at group meetings, asking her to serve drinks to men and inquiring why she didn't stay home and care for her children instead of pursuing a career.
Facebook issued statement saying they have "substantive disagreements" on the facts and that the employee was treated fairly.
