California Public Health Officials are reporting the first confirmed death in the state this year from the West Nile Virus.
The only information being released about the person who died is that they were a senior citizen from Nevada County.
The death os being called a tragic reminder of how severe West Nile Virus Disease can be, and today health officials also said that West Nile activity is also more widespread this year than in years past.
So, it's more important than ever to protect against mosquitos, which transmit the virus.
Butte is the only Northstate county to report West Nile infections in humans this year ... with two cases confirmed.###
