SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A former California assemblyman and three other people were the victims of a weekend hit-and-run crash.

KNTV reports that former Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, a community activist, a cab driver and a police officer were among those in several different cars broadsided by a Mercedes. The car left the scene following the crash in San Francisco's Mission district Saturday night.

No one was critically injured. One woman suffered a gash over her head and one man went to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

Police Sgt. Monica MacDonald said officers caught the suspect after he ran and struggled with them and tried to grab an officer's gun. He was arrested. His name and age were not released.

MacDonald said the Mercedes was also wanted in connection with an earlier attempt to run over a police officer.
