LODI, Calif. (AP) — Hundreds turned out for a candlelight vigil in Northern California Wednesday night to honor five family members killed in a crash.
A pregnant woman and three children who attended Lodi schools were among those killed in the five-vehicle crash at an intersection on Tuesday night.
Police said one of the family members, a 9-year-old, was in critical condition. Five other people were also hospitalized.
Lodi Mayor Alan Nakanishi called the crash a black day for the city.
Lodi police are investigating how the crash occurred. Witnesses described seeing one of the vehicles involved speeding beforehand.
