CalFire crews were able to hold a vegetation fire that broke out in Forest Ranch just after 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon to less than an acre.
The fire was just south of Forest Ranch off Crown Point Road near Highway 32 and an area where heavy manzanita bush meets the taller pines. CalFire Officials say the fire had the potential to threaten structures, but none were damaged.
Officials say they believe the fire was the result of a tree being blown into a powerline, but the powerlines did not fall.
Nine engines on responded the scene, with four water tenders and PG&E crews have been called to the scene. The fire is fully contained, but officials plan to remain on the scene for another two or three hours because the heavy vegetation makes the chances of reignition more likely.
