Just after 11 a.m. this morning, a passer-by was walking by 2951 Foothill Blvd when they noticed a significant amount of smoke spewing from the residence. When the first Cal Fire engine arrived at the scene, the attic portion of the residence was fully engulfed and there was a potential threat the flames could get into the surrounding vegetation. An air unit was requested and circled the area to limit the potential of that threat.
As of 1:15 p.m. this afternoon the fire had been fully contained and Foothill Boulevard fully reopened.
After the fire was contained and the structure searched, it was determined no one was home during the fire. Cal Fire estimates there was roughly $80,000 worth of damage to the house, along with an additional $40,000 to the contents inside the residence.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
