The Division of Boating and Waterways awarded the Butte County Sheriff's Office an equipment grant.

The grant was used to buy a brand new all aluminum jet propelled 22-foot patrol boat. The boat was custom built for the sheriff's office.

The boat will be primarily used on the Afterbay by the Recreational Boating Safety Program.

The boat will also be used for search and rescue missions and patrol functions on other county waterways.

According to Marine Unit Sargent Steve Collins, the boat's tower and top collapse for passage under the SR 162 Bridge, which makes it more efficient for enforcement and resuse on the AfterBay.
