Butte's win streak ends at six games after loss to Siskiyous

The Butte College football team saw its six game winning streak come to an end Saturday with a 20-19 defeat to College of the Siskiyous in Weed.

The loss diminished any hopes of Butte (6-4, 4-1 Nor Cal) hosting next Saturday's playoff game as champion of the Nor Cal League. Instead, Butte will have to hit the road to face an opponent yet to be determined. The official playoff matchups will be announced Sunday.

The scenario is eerily similar to last year. In 2014, Butte clinched a playoff sport by knocking off American River (just like they did last week on a hail mary) only to lose the following week to Siskiyous 21-20 which most likely cost the Roadrunners a home postseason game.

But, when you consider that this year's team started out 0-3, head coach Jeff Jordan has to be pleased with how the Runners righted the ship and put themselves in the playoffs. Any postseason game is better than none at all.

Butte running back Martin Fleming ran 19 times for 90 yards against Sikiyous. Chance Trammel added 11 yards on 7 carries with one touchdown. Quarterback Tommy Hays rumbled for 88 yards on 17 carries, and also threw for 121 yards and one touchdown. Robert Combs hauled in 2 passes for 53 yards and one score.
