The Butte Roadrunners kicked off their season with a 34-21 victory over Chabot on Saturday, September 6th, at Cowan Stadium.

But it wasn't easy.

The reigning state and co-national champs fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter, but rallied back to outscore the Gladiators 34-7 the rest of the way.

A game-chaning play came in the 2nd quarter when Damariay Drew picked off a Jose Ferreira pass and returned it 33-yards for a touchdown.

Butte got a great game out of running back Marvel Harris, who ran for 136 yards on 17 carries with one touchdown.

Butte (1-0) will hit the road for the first time next week as they take on Santa Rosa Junior College.
