The Butte Environmental Council has been chosen as one of a select group of community-based organizations across California to receive grants from Energy Upgrade California.

The funding will help develop and put into motion energy management outreach, awareness and educational programs for the community with an emphasis on reaching diverse and underserved populations.

BEC is partnering with GRID Alternatives, a national non-profit with regional headquarters in chico. GRID works to bring renewable energy to communities in need through it's no cost/low cost programs. That sometimes includes solar installation.

You can learn more through www.energyupdateca.org or www.gridalternatives.org/northvalley.

Meanwhile, BEC is kicking off the big "Action on Climate Leadership" March in Oakland on Friday, February 6th with a send-off party of art and music at the Habitat Lab in Chico to generate support and to make signs for the March. It is billed as an Evening of Activism and Art. Busses will head out for Oakland Saturday Morning.
