The National Weather Service has canceled a tornado warning for Butte County after a severe thunderstorm west of Oroville has weakened.
Significant amounts of hail were reported falling on Highway 99 west of Oroville and several cars slid off the road, but no tornadoes were reported.
However, The National Weather Service radar indicated a tornado was located 11 miles north of Thermalito, or 9 miles southwest of Paradise moving north at 15 mph.
The tornado warning had originally been set to expire at 5 p.m., but the storm dissipated quicker than expected and National Weather Service officials cancelled the alert at 4:43 p.m.
The Butte County tornado watch was issued just moments after a tornado warning for parts of Glenn and Tehama Counties expired. No tornados or storm damage has been reported out of Tehama of Glenn either.
