Butte County Supervisor Bill Connelly has announced plans to run for County Assessor.
In a news statement issued Thursday afternoon, Connelly said he has thought long and hard about this, adding that, "The office of the Assessor is a direct line between the people and the taxes they pay. Our county deserves leaders who understand what it is like to be on the other side of the counter. The people want an assessor who will fight for them, not insiders that will side with government."
Connelly is in his third term as county supervisor, and says he’s proud of helping to reduce the county deficit to the point it’s now “in the black."
Connelly's decision follows the recent announcement of Fred Holland, Butte County's current Assessor, that he would not be seeking re-election.###
