The Butte County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect in connection with an arson attempt today in oroville.

Witnesses on scene say that they saw a woman throw an accelerant at the house window on Elgin Street at Spencer Avenue and took off. The house had 3 people inside. They were able to get out unharmed.

The call came in just after 11 today.
El Medio Fire Fighters responded, keeping the damage to a minimum. They say it could have been a lot worse had the house not been so close to the fire station. The El Medio Fire Chief says the attempt was a poor one at best.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause as they were unable to find the object thrown at the window. According to officials on scene this incident stems from an ongoing dispute between one of the occupants of the house and an ex girlfriend.

The Sheriff's Office was called to the house last night because of a dispute details are unclear but witnesses say the ex girlfriend had been threatening to set the house on fire. The Sheriff's Office is withholding the name of the suspect.
