Butte County Search and Rescue Team Fundraiser Friday

Jun 26, 2014 3:54 PM by Linda Watkins-Bennett

The Butte County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team is working to raise money to replace helmets, flight suits and flight gloves.

Members have teamed up with the Silver Dollar Speedway for a fundraiser Friday night in chico. Raffles and a silent auction will be conducted during the race night. The team will also provide safety tips and perform an air rescue demonstration from the middle of the race track.

The unit responds to all types of rescues, helping to locate lost citizens, and to perform life saving rescues.

Even though it is an auxiliary unit of the Sheriff's Office, the team is an all-volunteer non-profit organization, relying solely on volunteers.

They're on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Meanwhile, the Pit gate opens for the races at 4:00 p.m. Friday, and the front gate opens at 6:00 p.m. at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.

For more information on the unit, or to donate, call (530) 895-6577 or visit www.buttesar.org.
