More than 110 Butte County Public Works Employees have voted to strike next week after months of failed contract negotiations with the county.
Butte County officials say employees in the Skilled Trades Unit intend to strike next Monday and Tuesday, October 26 and 27.
The unit is made up of more than 110 employees who primarily provide road maintenance, landfill operations, building maintenance, janitorial services, and other skilled work.
County officials say they are making plans that will keep services running smoothly during the strike, and anticipate limited impacts to public service. However, residents hauling waste to the Neal Road Recycling and Waste Facility should expect delays because of longer lines.
According to the county, salary and benefit negotiations with the Skilled Trades Unit have been ongoing for several months, but an agreement has not been reached.
