Butte County veterans now have a new way to show off their service to the country.
The county just launched a veteran I.D. card program through the Veterans Service Office.
The cards are free to all veterans who were honorably discharged.
The program is designed to recognize the veterans for their service and also provide them with discounts at local businesses.
So far the group has more than 20 businesses signed up, but is hoping that number will grow in the coming months.
"We are really hoping this gets out there and merchants and service providers can contact us and ask how they can help," Veterans Service Officer Hannah Williamson said.
If you are a veteran with questions about the I.D. program or a business hoping to take part, you can call the Veterans Service Office at (530) 891-2759.
