Cal Fire Butte County crews have contained a flurry of grass fires that broke out within an hour and a half of one another Thursday afternoon.
The largest of the three fires was reported at 2:36 p.m. and burned approximately 15 acres near Dunstone Drive in Bangor. The blaze is 50 percent contained, but the threat to structures has been mitigated.Cal Fire crews are expected to remain on scene mopping up all night.
A little before 4 p.m. another blaze broke out in Bangor, this one near Mellow Meadow Lane. Crews contained the fire to an acre.
The cause of both Bangor fires remains under investigation.
A third Butte County fire was sparked at 3:39 p.m. when a pickup truck crashed into a telephone poll on Ophir Road, near Highway 70 in Oroville. The accident knocked down power lines and sparked nearby vegetation.
The driver reportedly told police he crashed into the poll after he fell asleep at the wheel.
The fire spread to the yard of a nearby home and an evacuation order was issued, however fire crews managed to knock down the flames before they reached the home.
No injuries have been reported in any of the three fires.
