It will cost a bit more money to ride the bus nowadays.
The Butte County Association of Governments approved a fare increase for the Butte Regional Transit System this morning.
In-town rides are now up from $1.40 to $1.50 while rides between Butte County cities rose from $1.80 to $2.
Transit officials say increase will raise more than $120,000 a year.
While this works out to less than a 10 percent increase, riders we spoke with today said they're not looking forward to paying it.
”Some people can’t afford it now and half the time I can barely make it to afford it,” said Jason Nash, a frequent bus rider. “An increase would not be cool.”
This additional money will be used for transit system's increasing operating costs.
