The Butte County Inter-Agency Bomb Squad was called to a home on Palermo Road Saturday. According to the Butte County Sheriff's Office, at 4:13pm, a man reported a suspicious device at his home. After Butte County Sheriff’s deputies examined the item, it was determined that it had a cylindrical shape with characteristics similar to that of a possible improvised explosive device. The Butte Inter-Agency Bomb Squad conducted “render-safe” procedures in a safe location. According to investigators, the origin of the device is under investigation. Palermo Road was closed for approximately one hour while the bomb squad conducted the on-scene investigation.
