Butte College teacher killed in Friday evening crash

Jane Rodgers the woman killed in Friday evenings Highway 99 crash had worked at Butte College as a nutrition teacher for 21 years.

The school learned of Rodgers’ death this weekend and Butte College President Kimberly Perry sent out the following campus wide email;

“Jane Rodgers, a current associate faculty member, passed away on Friday, May 9, at the age of 58. Jane was hired as an associate faculty member in the Foods and Nutrition Department in the Fall of 1992. She is survived by her three sisters.

For now, the family will have a private service, but would like to plan a memorial service sometime in the future. An announcement will be sent to the campus community if details of a public memorial service become available. According to the family's wishes, the Foods and Nutrition Department will establish a Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Butte College Foundation, which will benefit students who are studying nutrition”.

Rodgers was killed when a GMC 2500 truck, towing a flatbed trailer southbound on HWY 99 north of Rio Bonito Rd. drifted into the northbound lane and hit her Honda head-on Friday evening.
