The Butte County SWAT Team served a search warrant in Berry Creek Tuesday and arrested a 62-year-old man accused of making criminal threats, intimidating a witness and tampering with a phone line.
The search warrant was served at 915 Milsap Bar Road in Berry Creek against 62-year-old Andrew Frerks, and accusations stem from a June incident at the home.
SWAT Officers entered the home, detained Frerk's roomate 40-year-old Rodney Baker, and then moved to the living room where they found Frerks attempting to gain control of a semi-automatic handgun.
Frerks fumbled the gun and was taken into custody.
A search of the home resulted in the seizure of several firearms and ammunition.
Frerks was arrested on the warrants and both he and Baker were arrested on new charges.
In addition to the warrant, Frerks was charged with Exhibiting a Firearm at a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Possession of Ammunition by a Felon.
Baker was charged with being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.
Both men were booked into Butte County Jail. Frerks' bail was set at $457,000 and Baker's bail was set at $40,000.
