The Butte County Board of Supervisors has voted 4-1 to ban the practice of hydraulic fracking.
Hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” is the controversial process of drilling and injecting fluid into the ground at a high pressure in order to fracture shale rocks to release natural gas inside.
The vote was 4-1 with supervisor Larry Wahl voting against the ban.
