Eight people are dead and more than a dozen injured after a church bus crashed in Tennessee.

Many of those killed were senior citizens from a North Carolina church group called the Young At Heart.

The church held a memorial service Wednesday night, praying for their members who will never return and the others killed in the crash.

The group was returning home from a gospel fest when the accident happened on a highway near Knoxville, Tennessee.

Police say a front tire on the bus blew, sending it across the median into oncoming traffic.

The bus hit an SUV and a tractor trailer.

Officials say the driver of the tractor trailer was killed, along with a passenger in the SUV and 6 of the 18 passengers on the bus.

As part of the investigation, the Tennessee Highway Patrol says they will look at the bus driver's qualifications and driving history, as well as any other possible mechanical failures that might have contributed to the crash.
