Burney Basin Days to mark 59th Year

The 2014 Burney Basin Days Celebration marks its 59th year with three days of festivities planned over the July 4th holiday weekend.

The VFW Queen Pageant and announcement of the "Honorary Mayor" kicks off four days of fun Thursday July 3rd, at 8 p.m. at the Burney Veterans Hall.

July 4th features the Friday Night Social with music by "The Lindsey Thomas Band" at the Rex Club and the Toughman Contest at Pit River Casino.

The biggest day is Saturday July 5th, which starts with the Lions Club Chuck Wagon Breakfast, followed by Bed Races on Main Street starting at 10 a.m., along with a Kiddie Parade and Main Street Parade.

There will be a Craft Show in the Safeway parking lot, a VFW Barbeque at Burney Veterans Hall, and Fireworks at the Burney High School football field. The fireworks are sponsored by the Rotary Club. Gates open at 5 p.m. Fireworks start at 10 p.m. A dance also takes place that night from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Lions Civic Park.

Sunday brings another Chuck Wagon Breakfast, the craft show continues, and the Pit River Casino hosts a Car Show anbd Shine.
