Burn Bans Still in Effect in Tehama, Glenn Counties

Although fall is officially here and temperatures are cooling down, Cal Fire wants to remind everyone burn bans are still in effect in Tehama County and in the State Responsibility Area within Glenn County.

Cal Fire indicated in their press release this morning the burn bans will remain until weather conditions significantly change. Residents are urged to exercise caution when doing outdoor activities as fires begin and spread rapidly. Cal Fire indicated north winds and low humidity are expected in the area Thursday through Saturday, and historically some of the worst fires have started this time of the year.

“In the past those northern winds this time of year have started some notable fires in the North State, including the Jones Fire in Shasta County in 1999 and the Bear and French Gulch Fires in 2004,” said Kevin Colburn of Tehama County Cal Fire. “Simple actions such as tossed cigarettes, parking your vehicle in dry grass or leaving hot coals in a campfire and ignite a fire.”
