A burglary suspect led Oroville police on a high-speed chase that spanned roughly 12 miles before he was arrested in Kelly Ridge Monday morning.

Police responded to a burglary alarm at Field and Technical Pumps in the 5000 block of Baggett-Marysville Road around 9 a.m. Monday. Dispatchers told responding officers to be on the lookout for a red sedan believed to be involved.

Officers spotted the car driving from the area as they arrived. The driver failed to pull over and a chase ensued. Police followed the man for 12 miles as he sped towards the Kelly Ridge area at speeds up to 100 miles per hour.

Once in Kelly Ridge, the man jumped out of the car and ran into a house where he was eventually taken into custody. Officers identified the suspect as Carlos Carias Sr. 46, and say a search of his vehicle turned up several items that had been stolen from Field and Technical Pumps.

Carias has been booked into the Butte County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possessing stolen property, possessing burglary tools, and felony evading.
